Your favorite form of transportation—whether it's an airline, train, or bus—may not offer Wi-Fi. Even if you make the most of your mobile data, there will be locations without cell service. Netflix users who planned to view a movie on their trip may be out of luck. There's good news.

Netflix's offline-viewing feature lets you watch movies and TV shows on the fly. Netflix Party makes downloading movies and TV shows easy. This removes the anxiety of not knowing when Wi-Fi will reconnect.

Netflix movie download instructions.

The following steps should work with Windows 10, iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, Chromebooks, and Chrome boxes. Download the Netflix app from the Windows Store to watch offline on a Windows PC.

Step 1: Download and Update your Software

First, update Netflix. If your device doesn't automatically update, visit the Google Play Store for Android or the App Store for iOS (version 9.0 or later).

For Chrome and Chromebox devices, use the browser or the Netflix app from the Google Play Store.

If you want to utilize Netflix for Windows 10, click on your user icon, then Store, Downloads, or Updates. Checking for updates on the Netflix app.

Step 2: Select the Quality of your Download

Netflix offers Standard and Higher download quality. Netflix says the latter is "up to 1080p depending on the TV episode or movie." Higher takes up more space and slows down downloads than Standard. You can choose based on your device and available space. On your smartphone, the standard mode may look fine, but on your tablet or laptop, you may prefer a higher resolution.

Choose from App Settings. On Amazon, Android (including Chrome), and iOS apps, it's more or under your profile symbol. Next, click Video Quality or Download Video Quality (Android) under Downloads. Menu > Settings > Download on Windows 10 lets you choose video quality.

Step 3: Pick your Show or Movie

Even though not all of Netflix's material may be downloaded, the company has made it easy to find downloadable titles by collecting them in a section aptly dubbed "Available for Download." A sub-menu with the choices from this category will display amid the other genre options when you select TV Shows or Movies. It will be the last selection in the Home area on Windows 10 devices. If you're using the Netflix app for an iOS, Android, Chrome, or Amazon device, you can also choose to Find More to Download or Find Something to Download under the Downloads tab to view the available titles.

If you're looking for a specific title, the Download icon, which looks like a downward arrow with a horizontal line underneath it, will let you know that it may be downloaded.

Step 4: Launch the Download

Choose the Download icon next to the TV show or movie you wish to view to start the download process. A little piece of advice for Android users: You can choose the storage location for downloads on the Netflix app. Previously, Netflix would always use the storage device that the program is installed on, but a recent upgrade made it possible to do more. You can now insert a microSD card into your smartphone, and the App Settings menu will give you the option to choose it as your usual download destination.

Step 5: View the Movies you Downloaded

All Netflix content will show up in the Downloads area once it has been downloaded. On mobile devices, tap the Downloads menu; on Windows, tap the Menu button in the top-left corner of the application. The size and rating of the title are provided next to it. Simply click or tap the video thumbnail to start the episode. You can also watch Netflix with friends via Netflix Party Extension.
